Eric Peter Haines

(1961 - 1976)

Known as: Peter

Bowling: Leg-break

Grimsby Town KO Cup: Winner (1962)

Educated: Brigg Grammar School

A Brief History of Brocklesby: Joined us from Brigg Grammar, and those who knew him would agree, that he was the finest all-rounder we ever had, not altogether statistically, but because of his remarkable speed and agility. His leg breaks were nearly medium pace, he hit a ball very hard and was very fast in the field and between the wickets.

The Briggensian: Barton and Haines have also played useful innings... Haines has shown he could easily develop into a first-class leg-break bowler, although at present, as is only natural, his length is apt to be inconsistent - July 1960.

I thought I'd begin by reading a poem by Shakespeare, but then I thought, why should I? He never reads any of mine. - Spike Milligan
